- Electric Car Kit - How to Build Your Own Electric Powered Car at Home

0
By Jim M. Watson
An electric car kit can help you convert you current vehicle into an electric car quickly and easily. Even if you have very little mechanical knowledge, the instructions are so easy to follow that you will be able to make your vehicle run on electricity in a very short time.

By building your own EV you can:

Eliminate your gas costs.
Get IRS refunds for driving an automobile that is friendly to the environment.
Emit less heat and pollution and reduce global warming.
Drive up to 200 miles on a single charge.
Soon all new cars will be using this technology, but until that time comes you can use a very easy-to-follow diy manual and build your very own EV for under $300! Although, most of the vehicles can be converted to run on electricity, it would be a good idea to choose a light automobile that has enough room to place the batteries.

The first thing you need to do is replace the internal combustion engine with the electric motor. You will also need a power controller, rechargeable batteries and power conductors. All these parts can be found at your local auto-shop. The conversion will cost less than $300 and will practically pay for itself in a few months. If instead of using a diy guide, you decide to pay a mechanic to do the job, then the cost will rise to $3000-$8000.

There are many do-it-yourself electric car conversion manuals online, but unfortunately many of them are very difficult to follow. Would you like to save money on gas ever year?

- Build a Hydrogen Generator - How to Make a Hydrogen Generator

0
By Eric Anderson
Precautionary Measures

The hydrogen generator is a device used to incorporate flammable gases that can be broken down from water to be used as water fuel for cars. Oxyhydrogen is the gas that is made by such device. This gas is considered to be highly explosive. Unlike pure hydrogen, which is more stable and can be stored safely, oxyhydrogen is highly flammable and should never be stored because it can easily ignite. It is therefore important to make this device in a safe house or garage far from places with high density of people and housing. It is equally important to wear protective gear and have easy access to fire retardants or extinguishers.

The Building Process

The HHO generator should be made from a transparent PVC pipe measuring 1.5 inches in diameter. The clear pipe should be covered on top and on the bottom with cylindrical thread adapters and screw-on PVC caps with a measurement of 1.25 inches in diameter. The cap on the bottom should have two stainless steel bolts attached to it, secured with washers and nuts. On the top end, the cap must have a "barb fitting" that would permit the insertion of rubber surgical tubing.

The gas, in theory, would flow to a second container which should be filled with water and have an open top. The container can be a 2-liter glass flask. A piece of tubing made of copper is connected to the surgical tubing of the first container. The copper end is bent to an angle that would fit the second vessel, dipping it below water level to prevent ignition in an experimental stage. The HHO generator should be filled halfway with a mixture of potassium hydroxide and an equal amount of water. The potassium hydroxide serves as an electrolyte, making it possible for the electric current to flow in water continuously. At the bottom end of the device attach two 6-inch insulated copper wires to each of the bolts. Then connect the wires to a 12-volt DC battery charger of the automobile or a solar panel with a 40+ watts capacity.

How the Process Works

When the power source is turned on, the mixture in the HHO generator will start to make bubbles. This is an indication that water molecules are starting to break into hydrogen and oxygen gases. Then this mixture will continuously make bubbles creating more gases. These gases would flow up towards the barb tubing and down to the copper fitting of the second container. When the second container starts to make bubbles it is an indication that the gases have reached the vessel. The gases will rise from the second container like a mist. It is important to keep the second container away from sparks because such gases are highly flammable.

The second container should be fitted with a tight cover. On the cover, a hole should be drilled that would fit another copper tubing. Both the hydrogen generator and the other container should be placed in the car's engine compartment in a manner that it is fixed and stable. The fittings that hold both containers should be able to hold through the rigors of travel. The wirings on the primary container should be connected to the terminals of the car battery. The copper tubing from the HHO generator should be carefully inserted to the engine's carburetor.

Start the engine, slowly depressing on the accelerator. If bubbles start to form on the hydrogen device then a successful connection has been made, and you have a water powered car. It is also important to check for leaks in both containers so as not to have dangerous spills on the engine compartment.

(from Ferrari Press Release) The new Ferrari 430 Scuderia will join the road-going V8 line-up alongside the F430 coup and the F430 Spider. The 430 Scuderia is a truly high-performance 2-seater berlinetta which demonstrates how Ferrari's Formula 1 know-how is carried across to its production cars.

The new model is a special series based on the F430 and is aimed specifically at Ferrari's most passionate and sports-driving oriented clients. Development focused on light weight, minimum trimmings and innovative technology. All this to exalt the car's extremely high-performance and ability to thrill the driver.

The new car can count on an extremely low weight-to-power ratio of just 2.45 kg per hp thanks to a low dry weight of just 1250 kg - 100 kg less than the F430 - and to the naturally-aspirated 4308cc V8's 510 hp at 8500 rpm.

Superb performance both on and off the track is assured by a series of cutting-edge solutions. There is the latest software - F1 Superfast - which reduces gearchange times to just 60 milliseconds, and new traction control which, for the first time, combines the E-Diff electronic differential and the F1-Trac traction and stability control in a single integrated system.

Vehicle dynamics, control and performance thus represent the zenith of Ferrari's achievements in terms of developing road-certified sports cars.

The 430 Scuderia will be officially unveiled by Michael Schumacher at the IAA Motor Show in Frankfurt in September 2007.
