(from HARTGE Press Release) Starting in 2005 in HARTGE’s product range is the new HARTGE 645Ci 5.1. Its premiere was celebrated beginning of December 2004 at the Essen Motorshow. The HARTGE 6 series was presented to technicians as well to the public with an individual optic and as usual with a high-performance engine.

The modified V8 engine with 5.1 liter displacement gives an output of 420 hp and an impressive torque of 520 Nm (384 lb-ft). The HARTGE engineers reach this by increasing the displacement with a new crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods and its own bespoke engine mapping.
These facts endow the HARTGE Six with a 0 - 100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h.

The 30 mm lower HARTGE sport suspension with specific spring rates and shock absorbers take care of the best grip on the road (for vehicles without Dynamic-Drive-System, an additional stabilizer set is available). The essential road holding takes the HARTGE 6 series with specific tires from Continental or Pirelli in the dimensions 255/30-21” front and 295/25-21” rear. The HARTGE high- performance brake system with eight piston brake calipers front and 380 mm cross-drilled floating rotors gives the 1695 kg vehicle always the best braking deceleration.

The ”model athletic” optic gets the HARTGE Six from the new designed front spoiler, with enlarged kidney grilles and integrated headlights, which personify a combination of modern ”timeless design” and ”retro-look”.

At the rear section the stainless steel rear silencers shine with two dual round tail pipes right and left and give a robust sound, (optional with two oval tail pieces available).

The newly designed 21 inch HARTGE ’’Classic II’’ alloy wheels in the dimensions 9.5 x 21” offset 18 front and 10.5 x 21” offset 22 rear (available from March 2005) match perfectly. This marks the next evolutionary step of the beautiful and timeless HARTGE ”Classic” wheel. More sizes to come end of 2005.

High grade interior materials in leather and aluminium complete the optics. The HARTGE designed aluminium handbrake handle, the aluminium/leather automatic gear lever and the aluminium pedals are the cream of the crop. The serial Mercedes-Benz SLR is already one of the most impressive cars on our roads � but compared to the HAMANN VOLCANO it still looks rather harmless. Once again, HAMANN-Motorsport proves its cutting edge when it comes to refining superb sports cars. From a lift-reducing body design to a powerful performance enhancement to a lavishly styled interior, HAMANN focuses on all components of this luxury car and makes the automobile dreams of its exclusive clientele come true.

The total makeover of the Laupheim-based refiner is made of extremely light full carbon and consists of front- and rear wing extensions and also new side skirt attachments and sheathings. The front view of the Volcano is optically perfected with a newly designed bonnet which enhances the overall impression by its integrated hood scoop. But also for the rear, the refining technicians implemented new ideas giving the SLR appearance its finishing touch. Under the boot lid cover, HAMANN placed a strong diffuser which improves the car�s output in combination with the large rear wing. At the front axle, a newly developed front spoiler renders the necessary contact pressure. If desired, an especially developed overall paint for the VOLCANO in either aluminium/chrome or white/matt completes the striking appearance of this bolide.

The 21-inch rims named EDITION RACE with tyres measuring 255/30ZR21 at the front and 345/25ZR21 at the back render an optimal road grip. The design of the extraordinary light forged wheel thereby combines vitality and elegance and also perfectly fills out the wheel houses.

The HAMANN makeover is not only sportive, but also has a lot to offer under the bonnet. The HAMANN motor technicians get the most out of the Mercedes Benz V8-aggregate (5.4 litres, 626 hp, 780 Nm): 700 hp / 515 kW and a maximum torque of 830 Nm at 3,300 crankshaft revolutions per minute. The therefore necessary modifications include a newly programmed control unit, especially developed high performance exhaust manifolds and an amended belt pulley combination for the serial compressors. In order to facilitate the increased motor performance, HAMANN adds a second water pump and adjusts the gearbox electronics. Invigorated in this way and with the adequate sound from the six end pipes of the sport exhaust system, the VULCANO accelerates from naught to a hundred in only 3.6 seconds. With a maximum speed of 348 km/h, the HAMANN VOLCANO is 14 km/h faster than the serial model.

The HAMANN product even beats the factory-provided performance-enhanced special series SLR 722 by impressive 11 km/h.

A skillfully refined interior is waiting for the VOLCANO-pilot and also the exterior does not rank behind. The overall makeover contains pedals and foot rests in aluminium as well as noble door sill protectors and headrests with embossed embroidered HAMANN-Logos. They can also be found on the exclusive floor mats. The overall makeover can be enhanced with a HAMANN interior set containing custom-made carbon parts for the dashboard and centre console. If desired, also the roof interior, all pillars, the cockpit including the steering wheel and the sun visors can hereby be adjusted in terms of colour. With the X6, the BMW programme offers a car which does not only have the characteristics of an SUV, but also of a sports coup�. As a certified specialist for sport accessories, HAMANN-Motorsport is especially focusing on the driving dynamics segment of this Crossover model. For this reason, the technicians are refining the aerodynamics, motor and running gear. The modifications turn the X6 into an automobile which makes nearly every wish come true as far as performance is concerned. But the Laupheim-based refiner can do even more: an extensive interior and rim-programme completes the X6 refinement and makes the automobile stand out against the vast number of other upper class SUVs.

Inspiring torque enhancement

The range of HAMANN performance enhancement is as manifold as the choice of BMW motors. Thus, the technology specialist equips the X6 xDrive35i with a motor performance of 360 hp / 265 kW at 5,230 rpm. At the same time, the maximum torque rises by 140 Nm to 540 Nm within the speed range from 1,300 to 5,000 rpm. Thereby, HAMANN also suspends the 250 km/h limit and allows an impressive speed of 275 km/h. The Diesel version is also provided with extra power. After re-programming the serial motronics, the xDrive30d renders 265 hp / 195 kW and draws a maximum
torque of 600 Nm to the crankshaft. The motor version xDrive35d turns into an enormously powerful sprinter as well. The engineers from Laupheim were able to tease 320 hp / 235 kW and a sensational torque of 660 Nm at 2,000 rpm out of the self-igniting engine. Moreover, the sport mufflers by HAMANN-Motorsport are adjusted to the various performance kits. The product range does not only offer a double-pipe, but also a four-pipe system which renders a sonorous and earthy sound.

Fascinating design is matched with functional aerodynamics

The exclusive HAMANN auto body programme renders an optimal airflow over the car silhouette. The body kit consists of a sportive and energetic front skirt with integrated LED daytime running lights, a three-part rear casing and an attractive roof spoiler. For additional output on the rear axle, the customer can either opt for a small restrained or large and prominent rear spoiler. According to customer specifications, the BMW specialist can also replace the serial bonnet with an ultra-light carbon version.

Rims in ultra format

Single- or multi-part, sportive and striking or elegant and noble � HAMANN offers a wide range of wheel designs in different sizes. The ultimate rim is a 23-inch version called DESIGN EDITION RACE ANODIZED for the X6 wheel arches. The ultra-light forged wheel combines power and elegance. The black varnished rim star and the titanium bolting both emphasise the dynamics of the wheel. The highly polished rim flange on the other hands implies a noble appearance. HAMANN offers the 23-inch
wheel with tyres measuring 315/25R23 from 9,385 euros.

The new aluminium wheels with special running gear springs are perfectly put into focus. Thereby, progressively coiled springs lower the SUV�s center of gravity by maximally 40 mm at the front- and rear axle.

Perfected technology for the interior

In addition to the consisting serial interior equipment, HAMANN offers accessories made of high-quality aluminium. Pedals and foot rests render motorsports flair and perfectly match the 12-part HAMANN decoration set made of carbon fibre.
