To appreciate how water fuel systems function, it would be helpful to first understand that water is basically an idle power source that contains huge amounts of energy. Water is scientifically termed as H2O, which means there are two parts of hydrogen and one part oxygen. Hydrogen is an outstanding fuel. The quantity of energy in water is thus plentiful. It is important, however, to find viable ways of breaking down these water molecules in order to readily use its safe and effective byproducts.

The Alloy Method

The scientists who discovered the method employed an experiment wherein an engine was mounted on a table in a lab with open ventilation, on the floor beneath it were twelve half-gallon containers connected together with tubes that lead to a bigger tube that directly connects to the carburetor of the engine. Inside the containers is water mixed with salts that acted as electrolytes. Then, pieces of inexpensive metal alloys were dropped into each container. It resulted in the formation of hydrogen gases at an astounding rate. The hydrogen gases that formed in each container travel to the central tube directly towards the engine's carburetor. When the engine was started, it experienced a few chokes, but when it gained ignition, it kept on running for about 20 minutes.

The Brown's Gas Conversion

Another process of converting water into a fuel source is by electrolysis. This method alters the molecular structure of water producing a byproduct called Brown's gas. It is the most modest form of fuel to run a car on water. It uses water fuel and burns it in the engine to produce oxygen. Brown's gas can be obtained by segregating the atoms that make up water through the use of electrical currents from a battery or a direct power source. Water is put in a glass container with a tube connected to a secondary container where Brown's gas is collected. The secondary container has a big tube connected to the carburetor of the main engine.

The primary glass container is laden with an electric mechanism composed of various thin metal plates that are joined by an adhesive particle on top of each other. The plates have negative and positive terminals that have thin copper wires connected to an electric power source. When the power source is turned on, the thin metal plates create a bubbling chemical reaction that breaks down the water molecules into separate hydrogen and oxygen atoms. Hydrogen is collected in the secondary container and is fed to the engine via the tube to the carburetor. This hydrogen becomes an active fuel source ready to be used for cars run on water.
